After writing, playing, recording and mastering for the last 16 months, the album is finally here! I'm so glad it's time to share the album with you all.
DJ Midge Tube on Melbourne's wonderful radio station Three Tripple R, received an advance copy of the album and shared some kind words about the song "Lost, Homeless, Stateless":

A BIG thank you to everyone who helped along the way in my musical journey.
It was a honour to to appear on legendary radio program "The Australian Mood" for a 60 minute interview, to discuss the new album, my history in music & play some songs from the many wonderful bands & musicians I've met, watched, recorded with & played with live in the pubs and clubs over many years:
https://www.rrr.org.au/shared/broadcast-episode/32733/3550000/7200000
Track 1 - "Your Name 2" - An up-tempo rockin’ tune about spotting someone in a crowd who catches your eye. The recording is designed to capture the sound and energy of new wave bands from the 1980’s (like The Police on their first album)! You can also find this song on my first album with a completely different and slower arrangement.
This is the original arrangement: https://omazone.bandcamp.com/track/your-name-2
Track 2 - "Enjoy The Revolution!" - The album's title track was inspired by some graffiti I read on a wall whilst in Cairo, Egypt in 2011, just after the revolution. It was so profound it stopped me in my tracks and you can see the picture I took on the back cover of this album, it’s also the artwork for this single.
The song was written and recorded in the last few months of 2024 and was inspired by recent major political events including the cost of living crisis, the situation in the Middle East and the AUKUS nuclear submarine deal entered into by the Australian Government. I thought the subject matter would be more palatable with a funky bassline and disco beat. So here it is, Political Disco! Play it here: https://omazone.bandcamp.com/track/enjoy-the-revolution

Track 3 - "Everything About You" - A melodic, up-tempo, pop jangle song that examines the wonderful and nerve wracking first phase of a relationship. This version features the brilliant 12 string cigar box guitar made by my brother, to give it that "60's jangle"! Over many years I played in band called Wicked Smile, who played this song live in the pubs and clubs of Melbourne and it always went down well. Dedicated to our wonderful lead singer Jamie Scott, who very sadly passed away in 2024. You can listen to the recording here:
https://omazone.bandcamp.com/track/everything-about-you
Track 4 - “Shakin’” - A booty shakin tune, modelled on the 60’s soul classics, mixed with some Farfasia and a ripping guitar riff. Best to crank it up and dance with a smile on your face:
https://omazone.bandcamp.com/track/shakin
Track 5 - “Dust - Parts 1, 2 and 3” - In three distinct parts and musical styles, it covers the passing of time in one’s life and how the longer the live, the more jobs we have done, the more places we see, the more people we meet and the older we get. We gather these memories and often frame them and put them on the wall or mantlepiece at home.
Over the years more dust gathers on these memories and the picture frames we have around the house. The longer we live, the more dust we gather, the memories fade, the pictures fade, our friends and family in those picture frames pass away and are forgotten over time. As the end of life approaches, the time passes faster - so does the tempo in each part of the song. Did you have a great time and use it well, or did you waste it and you want some more? In the end I am, you are, we are all dust... Check it out here: https://omazone.bandcamp.com/track/dust-parts-1-2-and-3

Track 6: “Roll on Babe” was written and performed by Derroll Adams in 1967. This version is inspired by the wonderful, folky and dobro drenched 1974 Ronnie Lane version. I’m a HUGE Ronnie Lane fan. He was in the Faces, Small Faces and Ronnie Lane’s Slim Chance. Please check out some of his amazing music, especially the great documentary The Life & Music of Ronnie Lane: The Passing Show. Here's my dobro drenched crack at this melodic gem:
https://omazone.bandcamp.com/track/roll-on-babe
Track 7 - “Spin World” - Musically the heaviest song on the album. About the pace of modern life, the ridiculous & never-ending quest for perpetual growth and the constant human search for material gain. The current pace of modern life is unsustainable. I often wonder what Buddha would make of it all? Listen to the song here:
https://omazone.bandcamp.com/track/spin-world
Track 8 - “Best Of Reasons 1 - Band Version” - I used to play in a band called the Wooden Toys over many years in Melbourne’s pubs and clubs. This one is an up-tempo, feel-good, “60’s jangle” pop song. It’s drenched in harmonies and a magnificent electric 12 string cigar box guitar made by my brother, pics of that guitar at the end of this website. The last track on this album is an acapella version of this.
Enjoy and play the full band version here:
https://omazone.bandcamp.com/track/best-of-reasons-1-band
Track 9 - “Lost, Homeless, Stateless” - The slowest and saddest song on the album, designed to make us all pause and think of those who find themselves, their families, or their people - lost, homeless and stateless. Think about it and help if you can. Listen to the song here:
https://omazone.bandcamp.com/track/lost-homeless-stateless
Track 10 - “Baby What You Want Me To Do” - This fantastic song was originally written By Jimmy & Mama Reed in 1959, however this version is inspired by the up-tempo 1966 version by English group Sons of Fred. My brother made a brilliant guitar modelled on a Gibson Firebird, so all guitar parts are played on this home made guitar! You can see it in the picture above and hear it scream here:
https://omazone.bandcamp.com/track/baby-what-you-want-me-to-do
Track 11 - “Take My Hand” - A slower waltzy song with a big harmony filled chorus, inspired by the joy and freedom felt while surfing (at stunning Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia) and if you can help someone out who is in difficulty, extend a helping hand. Listen to the ocean and free spirit vibes here:
https://omazone.bandcamp.com/track/take-my-hand
Track 12 - “Best Of Reasons 2 - Acapella” - I used to play in a folk rock band called the Wooden Toys over many years in Melbourne’s pubs and clubs. This is an acapella version of the song, originally designed as a feel-good pop song with a “60’s jangle” type vibe and a hint of lap steel guitar. It starts out with the sound of an old radio, with the dial searching for a station to tune into. Check out Track 8 of this album for the “full band” version of this track. Listen to the acapella version of this song, with a suprise at the end here:https://omazone.bandcamp.com/track/best-of-reasons-2-acapella
The first single from this album, is Track 2 - “Enjoy The Revolution!” - This is the graffiti sprayed on a wall in Cairo, Egypt just after the revolution. It was on a wall opposite the incredible Egyptian Museum in May 2011, so profound this inspired the “political disco” title track and this second OMAZONE album. I hope you enjoy listening to the album, as much as I did making it.
Crank up this political disco single and bust a move: https://omazone.bandcamp.com/track/enjoy-the-revolution-the-single

"Home Time! The First Album By OMAZONE
"Home Time!" is the first album By OMAZONE from 2017. Ten diverse original songs that will take you through pop, rock, funk, folk and bluesy swagger!!!
Listen to the first album "Home Time!" here:

OMAZONE (Ben Wintle) is a Melbourne, Australia based independent musician, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. "Home Time!" was his debut solo album: "I love listening to a wide variety of musical styles, so I wanted this album to contain a wide variety of styles, instruments, rhythems and percussion on each song. Every vocal was to be delivered and recorded differently, with a wide variety of backing vocals to make each song very distinct.
After playing my first shows in primary shcool, years of playing live in original/cover bands, some touring interstate and studio recording I decided to take some time out from work to write, record and produce a solo album.
We never get enough time at home and it’s the best time of the day, so the album is called “Home Time!”. Paul McCartney once said he wished he could write a song about the ozone layer, but nothing rhymed with "ozone". I thought to myself, why not add an additional syllable - and came up with "OMAZONE"! It had to be rhymed with "chromazone" and so the funky tune: “Omazone Chromazone Blues” was born (Track Three). "OMAZONE" is a unique word, so after a vote with friends and family, I decided to make this my artist name”.
All instruments are arranged and played by B Wintle, except Track Two, which includes a ripping guitar solo played by the amazing and talented Bryan Dodge. All songs were written by B Wintle, except Track Eight where the words are by B Wintle, the music was written by B Wintle and Aaron Russell. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by B Wintle.

First Album - "Home Time!" The Songs:
1. Black & DisabledThis song is about people getting upset over the small things in life. For years I had the line "I am black, I am disabled and I'm nearly six years old", after seeing a disabled child playing in a park, laughing and loving life. When you step back and look, there are others who may be in a far worse position than us and they are getting on with life and taking a positive approach to their circumstances. Some people get stressed and depressed over their "first world" problems, it's good to get over it, get on with it and think about how lucky most of us are. Some people feel inadequate after seeing images of what the media and advertisers want us to look like and be like - thus the line: "The life shown in magazines, it ain't nothin like what it seems, so I'm happy with who I am right now".
I really wanted this song to have a sixties "jangle" to it, so it features a home made 12 string cigar box guitar. All of the instruments on this track (besides the drums) are cigar box guitars, hand made by my brother under the name Hell Belly Lo Fi, using top components like P90 Gibson pickups and quality Commancho cigar boxes from Cuba. The guitar collection on this track includes a 12 String cigar box, a 6 string, a 4 string and a cigar box bass guitar. You can see a picture of these magnificent guitars below.

2. Let Loose On The WeekendThis is all about working hard all week and the build up to the weekend with that magnificent feeling of achievement, release, freedom and celebration - when the weekend is all infront of you! It's the most exciting time of the week: Whhooooeeee!!!!!Listen out for the "Three Second Party" at the start of the song where there's every vice we could think of, recorded in three seconds! It's meant to capture the sound of 70's Aussie Rock and the blistering guitar solo was played by the amazingly talented Bryan Dodge. At the end of the song you'll hear the sound of the empty bottles, cans, stubbies and rubbish being thrown into the bins, then the bins being wheeled out to the street for the rubbish collection, the end of the weekend! It's back to reality, work, school, university and the start of another week where we do it all again. I'm a huge fan of Aussie Rock through the decades and this one is a nod to great bands like early AC/DC and The Angels.
3. OMAZONE Chromazone BluesPaul McCartney once said he wished he could write a song about the ozone layer, but nothing rhymed with "ozone". I thought to myself, why not add an additional syllable - and came up with "OMAZONE"! It had to be rhymed with "chromazone" and so this funky song was born....
The lyrics focus on some of the many mixed social messages and advice for life we receive from the media... We don't hear much "scat" singing these days, so listen out for the "scat solo", ha haaaaaa! "OMAZONE" is a unique word, so after a vote with friends, I decided to make this my artist name.

4. The ShelfThis one is a folky tune with some harmonica. It's about working long hours and the sacrifice you make to do it and earn a wage. It might be good financially, but if you spend all of your time at work - you neglect other areas of your life and "put your life on The Shelf".... Finding that balance between work and life is a dilemma we each have to solve for ourselves. It's played on a steel string acoustic guitar in an open G tuning and the sound of the drums is actually brushes on cardboard!
5. Milkshakes CornflakesThis one is a rockin' 2 minute instrumental that I thought could be used as a theme in a spy/action/thriller movie in a car chase scene or shoot out, or it could be good behind some sporting highlights!.... It's a blend of rock riffage, 80's electro beats and synth, crank it up loud!
6. Love Of A Broken HeartA song of hope and encouragement for those who are down in the dumps after a relationship breakup or fight. This one has a haunting keyboard solo in the middle and big build up to the last chorus with multiple vocal lines and vocal harmonies weaving a web of melody, to lift up the downhearted.
7. See if It FitsThis one started with a drum loop that I had to drop at the last minute, as there was too much noise in it. The riff and words are a raunchy "bump and grind", for those who dance live on stage... This one also features a keyboard freakout and a duel slide solo on the Hellbelly Lo Fi Commancho cigar box guitars made by my brother.
8. Your NameOriginally a really uptempo rock song that I used to play live with Wicked Smile, one of the bands I used to play in. The bass player of that band Aaron Russell liked the words, slowed it down and simplified it to a few chords on the acoustic guitar. I loved his re working and we never did record this song at all, so I thought it would be worth recording with some strings and in this slower orchestrated style. The riff at the start uses double tracked E Bow on the guitar!
9. Doctor of LurveI love JJ Cale, his grooves and minimal production. This song contains one vocal, a bass, drums and guitar. The lead guitar work was improvised and I left it on there just as it went down. I really liked the groove and wanted to put in a softly sung JJ Cale type vocal. It's one to give comfort if you're not feeling great, or when you're alone and can't sleep at night... The doctor's coming, to make you feel alright!
10. InterconnectionThis is the second song on the album consisting entirely of the cigar box guitars made by my brother (Hellbelly Lo Fi guitars). These guitars are made using quality Cuban Commancho cigar boxes. This song was written on a four string Commancho cigar box guitar called "Fireball". It showcases the brilliant sound of the Gibson P90 guitar pick up in it and the craftsmanship of the guitar maker. The bass is also a Commancho cigar box, made by Hellbelly Lo Fi. The rhythm guitar is a six string cigar box guitar.
I love an electric 12 string guitar solo, there are not enough of them out there and they remind me of a “sixties feakout”, so I’ve popped one on here. The vocal was a one take "demo" vocal I did in order to remember the melody, before having to run out the door. I tried many times but, could never quite replicate it's slurred pronunciation of the words and it's swagger, so it stayed untouched on the recording. The song is about firing up, enjoying life, having a good time and connecting with those around you. "Now it's time for leisure, time for pleasure, time to dig up all your buried treasure!".
Enjoy and play it loud!
